CQC Meeting
Colorado Quilt Council Coming to Parker in July 2015
Don’t forget that PPK is helping to host the Colorado Quilt Council Meeting on July 25 in Parker. Pat Syta will have the sign-up sheet to bring breakfast-type refreshments at the June PPK meeting. She would like a few more items to be donated.
Information regarding the meeting:
The CQC July meeting will be Saturday, July 25th at Joy Lutheran Church at 7051 E Parker Hills Ct, in Parker. We should have refreshments there by 8:30. The doors open for the meeting at 9 a.m., with the business meeting starting at 10 a.m. The speaker is Anelie Belden.
Fiber artist Anelie Belden began her sewing career working in the fashion industry which gave her the skills to begin her quilting journey. After owning her own quilt store and teaching quilting in her area she began designing quilts. She has taken the traditional Dresden Quilt design and created a new updated Dresden Designs which are featured in her book titled “Thoroughly Modern Dresden”. Not only are the designs modern, they are constructed using a breakthrough piecing technique to improve speed and accuracy. Belden has recorded a program demonstrating her technique with “The Quilt Show”, starring Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims. She has also taught at Quilt Guilds throughout the country, Houston Quilt Festival and with Empty Spools Seminars in Asilomar, California. An accomplished quilter, Belden has also had Her quilts featured in publications such as "The Art of the Quilt Calendar" and Quiltmaker's Magazine.
Anelie’s lecture for CQC is titled “Dresden Dance.” She invites you to stroll along memory lane and experience the history of the Dresden Plate Design. This trunk show is a collection of quilts which represents traditional Dresden’s from years ago and includes Anelie’s Thoroughly Modern Dresden designs.
The guest fee is $10 for the meeting. Unfortunately, the membership fee is still $25 to join. I made a huge error previously telling PPK members that it went down to half price in July. The CQC policy is that it goes to half price on August 1. My sincere apologies for mis-informing everyone the past couple of months.
